We have begun promoting the upcoming Mediation Training offered by the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center, but I have not formally contacted each of you to let you know the details of the event. Registration Forms will go in the mail shortly; however our next (and only) FCTE event for 2008 will be the Mediation Training Event.
It will take place August 18 – 22 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Springfield IL.2477 W. Washington St. Springfield, IL. 62702. Please make sure you have this on your schedule. Housing will be at the Sleep Inn, 3470 Freedom Drive, Springfield. Registration materials will be forthcoming shortly after synod assembly.
The actual cost of the tuition is $625 for registrations received prior to July 21, and $700 for registrations after that date. The actual cost of housing will be $200, double occupancy, for the week.
However, as a first call pastor, your tuition cost will be $300 for registrations received prior to July 21, and $375 for registrations received after that date. Your housing, double occupancy, will be covered. If you would like a single room, the additional cost will be $200. We must make room reservations July 17 in order to receive the special rate. The First Call Theological Education Fund will cover the amount that you are not asked to cover.
Given the cost of this event, I am asking that all of you cover the cost of your evening meals, except for Monday night, when the meal will be provided.
I am aware that $300 is more than we typically ask for FCTE. However, given the nature of the training and the cost of lodging, this is an exceptional value for the cost. I look forward to seeing you at Assembly and in August.
