 We pray for our country
and for those of our synod
who serve in the military.
Dear Lord and God of all, as the threat of war and destruction so grips our hearts, we recall the fear that the disciples experienced in a storm on the sea of Galilee and we remember you are the Lord of all and that you will not fail us or forsake us. With confidence we ask for your blessing upon our nation and upon our nation's leaders, as well as on the people and leaders of other nations, that are faced with the possibility of war. We ask for your blessing upon the men and women who are obediently answering the call to serve their country, even at the risk of their own safety. We ask for your blessing upon the people whose lives would be so disrupted by the ravages of warfare. And we ask that when possible, war may be averted and that your people may learn to seek a peaceful resolution to the difficulties that divide us. May we always hold up the example of your Son who told us to love one another as He has loved us. We pray this in Jesus' name. AMEN
